2020 GBAC Nominations for the Founders Lifetime Achievement Awards Announcement

The Great Basin Anthropological Conference was organized by Jesse D. Jennings, James Bennyhoff, Robert Heizer and Alex Krieger in 1953 and the first meeting held at Gila Pueblo in Globe, Arizona in 1954.  From its founding, the Conference has grown to the respectable 500-600 member Great Basin Anthropology Association that you see today, an organization filled with many exceptional individuals of local, national, and international renown.  We are now accepting nominations for the 2020 Founders Lifetime Achievement Awards, which recognize the exceptional contributions of members that have participated for more than 20 years in the development of Great Basin Anthropology. Contributions can be through research and publications and through distinguished service that improves education, communication, and interaction between individuals, groups, and various state, federal, and local agencies.  Nominees must have a publication record of major contributions and/or a record of distinguished service. The service and research contributions of a nominee may be in the fields of archaeology, biological anthropology, cultural anthropology, and/or linguistics: or in ancillary disciplines of the earth, biological, or social sciences, so long as these have contributed the anthropological study of the peoples and cultures of the Great Basin. GBAC 2018 Opening Reception

GBAC Opening Reception November 7, 2018 Location: Natural History Museum of Utah (Swaner Forum), 301 Wakara Way, Salt Lake City, UT 84108 Time: 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM Cost: $10 for admission (which includes museum access, a commemorative pint glass, 3 free drink tickets and free food catered by the Museum Café) How to get there: Ride the LeBus shuttle from the Sheraton Hotel (no charge). The bus will depart from the hotel to the museum and back about every 30 minutes. If you want to get there early, the first bus leaves around 4:30 PM. The last bus back to the hotel leaves at 9:30 PM.
